With an attrition rate reaching as high as 40% in the blue-collar job sector, a recent report indicates that over 40% of surveyed individuals are actively looking for new job opportunities.

According to a study by the blue-collar hiring platform WorkIndia, more than 40% of participants are currently employed while seeking alternative positions.

The report highlights that the pursuit of better salaries is a key motivator, with 22% of respondents identifying financial compensation as their main reason for job searching.

Additionally, 20% of respondents cited career advancement opportunities as a motivating factor, while another 20% mentioned personal reasons, such as relocation, completing education, or changes in family circumstances.

The findings are based on feedback from 1,100 respondents on the WorkIndia platform. It further suggests that many experienced candidates feel unfulfilled in their current roles, driving them to explore better opportunities.

Concerns about layoffs or financial instability with their current employer often push candidates to look for new jobs, the report stated.

Meanwhile, the prospect of higher salaries and better benefits remains a primary motivator for many candidates, who increasingly prioritize organizations that align with their personal values, particularly regarding work-life balance and company culture.

Approximately 48% of candidates reported that they continue to use the job search application even after securing employment, with 74% of these respondents actively seeking better opportunities.

These statistics underscore a strong desire among blue-collar workers for positions that offer enhanced financial compensation, job satisfaction, and career growth.

Additionally, 16% of respondents indicated they are actively searching for job opportunities on behalf of others.

“This report illuminates the changing motivations of blue-collar workers in India. As we continue to assist in their job search journeys, we are dedicated to providing resources and opportunities that meet their aspirations for improved compensation, career growth, and a rewarding work environment,” stated Nilesh Dungarwal, co-founder and CEO of WorkIndia.
